It could be that they ran out of room and your apartment was the short straw and you can still only get their U-Verse rebranded DSL service. What is "U-verse rebranded DSL service"?
In the 13-state legacy SBC region, DSL was, mostly, ADSL; offered as, "SBC Yahoo! DSL" service. This was/is ADSL using ATM and PPPoE. This service is not available under the "U-verse" brand anywhere in the present 22-state AT&T footprint. It is still available as, "at&t Yahoo! HSI" in regions which do not offer, "U-verse HSI".
"U-verse HSI" is not a "rebranding"; it is a service never available under either SBC, or Bellsouth. It is ADSL2+ using PTM and 802.1x authentication (making it a different animal from either legacy ADSL, or legacy Bellsouth ADSL2+ service). -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |
