Re: [IL] mediacomcable.com I've been unable to reach mediacomcable.com for several days now. Instead of asking for customer traceroutes, have you ever thought about hiring one employee who knows a little something about routing? |

Instead of asking for customer traceroutes, have you ever thought about hiring one employee who knows a little something about routing? There could be several things that cause an issue like this by providing trace routes it allows the person trying to resolve the issue to have a starting point. The same thing can be said about taking a car to a mechanic and saying its not working correctly. The mechanic would need more information and ask you some questions to find out what is causing the issue.
Mediacom probably has multiple IP ranges going through several pieces of backbone equipment and there could be an issue at any of the devices. by providing the trace route you are providing information needed to narrow down the issue and resolve the issue quickly. |

Repost from me earlier in this thread: I am still looking for examples of this issue. Please message me with ping and traceroute results to mediacomcable.com and also include the results from 'ipconfig /all.' Our NOC/Tier 2 needs these while a PC is connected directly to your modem and need your computer to be booted into safemode with networking.
You can also send this to socialmediateam@mediacomcc.com

 | reply to MediacomChad said by MediacomChad:Our Tier-2 Department is aware of this issue working to restore it. So what is happening about fixing this? When this thread first started I was able to reach www.mediacomcable.com
The last couple of days www.mediacomcable.com is unreachable. I am unable to get to the mediacom support forums at all. Obviously there is a problem here. |
|
 | reply to MediacomChad you need me to do your NOC's work? Ever heard of send a tech into the field to test this? Mine works fine now but if it does it again I will get you all the info you asked for. |

Due to this, we will need the information requested in previous posts. It is not our intention to make customers take these extra steps, but since we are unable to recreate this issue, we need further information. Thanks for your patience! |

Look at it from a customer's viewpoint: It is Mediacom's website that is not working. By not working Mediacom LOSES. Most customers care less if they can get to mediacomcable.com.
Right now I can get to Mediacom Today and all the links work ok Except the support links. Also I can no longer get to »www.mediacomcc.com/index.php - - which is the promo site. I have tried on 3 different browsers and 2 different computers.
It is pretty obvious many here have the problem. Just think of the vast majority of your customers who never heard of this forum and don't get to tell you it ain't working. |

This will help generate examples from the end user with pertinent information regarding the nature of the site-specific problem. I can certainly work with those willing to report this information to Network Operations, but if you would prefer to have a tech come out I can set this up. |
