Ours in SC (north of Columbia) is out since Mondaynight. I hired tine Warner now to install new internet and i get out of att. No clue how long it will take them to fix it. It's been almost a week

FYI, my service in NOLA the last few days has been very inconsistent. We have lost internet 3-4 times the last 2 days and our speeds go EXTREMELY UP and VERY LOW during the day.

I have 12m speeds and one minute I am downloading at over 20 and then suddenly it is down to 2.

Weird

I would recommend posting in the Direct forum to have your line checked. I'll be happy to take a quick look if you want to PM me your BAN but I can't do more than that or open customer tickets directly.

Like I said in a previous post they seem to be keeping the speeds down on purpose so they keep people from using the multitude of Internet video options.

I don't see your contribution helping in anyway nor do I understand your username as you clearly must not be a Uverse Tech currently. Your theory of speeds being kept down on purpose is not only misleading it is flat out wrong.

Sorry for the hurt feelings but I have installed this service from the Midwest thru south tex and yes a majority of lines could support a 30-50mb connection for Internet only as the line capacity is not be same. You are a moderator and probably work for AT&T great. What I stated was my opinion too many people get their feelings hurt when others interject an opinion. I don't know how many installs you have done but most of mine would sync at a max of 55-70 on non Inid and on some pair bond it would hit at almost 100. I am a numbers guy, they never mislead.

My feelings have nothing to do with your statement about AT&T keeping speeds down on purpose to keep people from using other video being wrong. That is an opinion and not a number.

Attainable or theoretical sync rate of an individual line, measured by the RG or a test set, has nothing to do with the sync profiles available and assigned.

JDSU, LSBBT. Internet only can run at a high line cap all day. Uverse video can run in the low 90s i've seen it over and over. South of the main Bryan street CO in Dallas there is a VRAD pushing 102 cap and video and data 24/3 ran fine. I put in a ticket when I saw these numbers at the terminal, even though all services were up. The IR tech said that's the way it is in that particular area.

Just because a line can run that high, doesn't mean they will provision it that high if it isn't a standard offering.

That's my point exactly, a majority of lines will sync at a much higher rate than provisioned. I know this is way off topic, sorry for that, I'll stop on this thread now.

the max attainable rates that you and everyone else sees (JDSU, LSBBT, UVrealtime, etc...) are exactly that.... estimates! What they consider sync is 100% capacity and noise margin of zero (0)db. Now here is the reality-- I never see a line transmit at that rate and not have dropped cells/packets. So in reality 100% with a noise margin of zero (0) is bad. Essentially the max attainable should be an "estimated" reading. You use it to see if you can go faster, or really need to go slower. it's like the gas gauge on the car. Can I go another 30 miles or should I fill up?

At the same time that estimate can be off as well. I have seen some DSL modems I had to bump to a higher speed just to prove they would sync up. The max readings change and such. max readings are really good at telling you if you have a bad modem or line from inside to outside.

Point being... the "max rates" as you see should be a guide point....Not gospel. If you treat them as gospel you will get burned on repeats and excess trouble each and every time. Been there, done that, have the excess tickets over the years to prove it.

Cumming, GA 12 MBPS/1.5 MBPS Plan
For a week now I get 1.2 MBPS / 1.4 MBPS

Even a simple U-tube will not play w/o buffering.

RG stats say I'm connected at ~25309 Kbps / 2026Kbps

Couple of reboots have come right back up but no d/l speed change.

Bonded pair reports no errors

WAP is turned on for use w/ phone but PCs are hard wired.

My internal network has gigabit cards and shows no errors, runs fast.

Where to start go get d/l speed back to spec?

Thanks,

have you powered everything off (and yes I do mean everything) for say 10 minutes or so? my Dual wan router does this on occasion and for some reason doing this seems to help. have a hotbrick LB-VPN dual wan router, a gigabit ethernet switch and my network.

Sounds dumb, but highly effective for me.

I called up Uverse billing regarding another issue and also requested a one day credit for the service outage

She said she couldn't give me any credit but it would be "taken care of" by the system if I was out of service for more than 24 hours. Won't be holding my breath. She also confirmed a $3 rate increase for all customers.

When thats all you have been exposed to you get used to it. Also I am no longer a Uverse tech because of their completely f'd up infrastructure, and to Tech007 they will not open up any VRADs until that new contract is greased up and shoved competely up your collective A##es.

To David I did not state that data will run on internet only at 100% cap without isues, I just stated that it is curently doing this in certain areas.

My argument is specifically to internet only accounts, they CAN run at approx 90% cap all day all night and ATT can up the speeds dramatically. Most accounts, NON iNID can easily support 30-50Mb, but they will never do this because it will cannibalize their over compressed video crap once people have modern internet connections and drop that crap for internet video services that do not require so much complex non-sense that will be the eventual nail in their coffin.

AGAIN I AM NOT A UVERSE TECH CURRENTLY SO YOU CAN STOP CRYING ABOUT THAT, SO THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CONFUSION I WILL NEVER BE A UVESE TECH AGAIN.

Then why don't you click "Members" (it's just below the "Broadband DSLReports.com" banner in the top left corner) and then "Accounts" and change your name to something like "FormerUverseTech" or something... To avoid this confusion.

To set the record straight, and so this topic does not continue to go off-topic, he is not required to change his name. He has clearly stated he is not currently a tech. There is a sticky thread at the top of the forum posts here:»Official Site AT&T Techs and a link at the left of the main forum page where people can see who the official techs are at this site.

I called back up Customer Service because the CSR I got the first time was a knuckle-head who gave me a lot of wrong information.

First I lowered my speed down from 12 to 6 mbps and see no affect whatsoever on my webbrowsing, which is 90 percent of what I do online. If I download movies or large files I guess it will be a little bit slower, but certainly not half as slow. And I did get refund for the 3 day outage, not waiting for the "system to do it automatically". My faith in AT&T has been restored . . somewhat.

Thanks skj. I have several thousand installs under my belt and from many different regions, most of the inside support techs have never steeped foot in the field and just go by what their tests and scripts allow them to say, there will be more outages like the recent maybe not as bad maybe worse, that's the topic. When I signed up on this forum in August 2012 I was a tech, at the end of August I resigned and continued my Cisco training.

AT&T gave me a miserly $5 credit for the UVerse outage many of us had to endure and suffer.

The CSR who gave me the credit acted like she was doing me a big favor and that she was performing an act of God or saving my life or something!
