Megaupload is back

Here is the site: »mega.co.nz

However No one should use this..... PROBABLY BEING RUN BY THE GOVT!!

They are sure stopping @ nothing blocking access to anything but the latest spying gadgets/browsers!

I tried changing my UA to look like Iphone,Blackberry,Chrome,IE9,etc and NOTHING WORKED!! (I got the message to update) -- The site must detect i am not actually on any of those (Thankfully (and grateful))

I wouldnt use it and dont recommend anyone else using it either!

Re: Megaupload is back

Yeah, after they struck up a deal to collect all the IP's of users and give them to authorities in exchange for no prosecution.

Sometimes the Dude's enthusiasm gets the better of him.

The megaupload site is simply not ready for prime time yet, as they mention on their web page.

Just for you Dude, I tried accessing the megaupload site using various browsers from various parts of the planet.

They indeed are not 100%.

KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT, BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!

Was able to sign up using IE9. IE8 was a no go. They recommend an "upgrade" to Chrome.

I'm not planning to do any file uploading until I hear/research a bit more about this. But I figured I'd grab the free 50GB just in case.

While the whole sordid story of KimDotcom leaves a bad taste, there are news bits worth reading.

Used correctly, there will be ZERO security differences between any of the file transfer services available today.
If you worry about who or what may access your file transfers the problem is with how your transferring the files not with which service you're using.
File encryption levels the playing field, taking out the unknown factors.
For example the attached archive is just as safe sitting here in this forum as it would be sitting @mega or anywhere else.

Maybe to support Kim Dotcom by way of filling up his pockets again?

Some to consider:

said by IDG News Service :
Doubt cast on the security of Kim Dotcom's Mega service

Kim Dotcom's bold new venture, the file-storage and sharing service Mega, is drawing criticism as security researchers analyze how the site protects users' data. In short, they advise: don't trust it.

My bullshit is better than their bullshit.

Q. Why is Mega not to be trusted?
said by IDG News Service :
A. Because Mega uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
Q. Isn't SSL traffic more secure than plain text traffic?
said by IDG News Service :
A. The problem is that SSL has long been recognized as a weak point on the web.
Q. Yes, but isn't SSL traffic more secure than plain text traffic?

Q. Yes, but is this an SSL issue or a Mega issue?

Q. Does your research conclude that plain text should be trusted more than SSL?

Q. Are there any other reasons why Mega should not be trusted?
said by IDG News Service :
A. If Mega's servers were compromised, it would also be possible for an attacker to deliver modified, malicious JavaScript, said Nadim Kobeissi, developer of the encrypted instant messaging program Cryptocat. It would also be possible for Mega itself to deliver malicious code.
Q. Original, clever cutting edge research.
Where's the sarcasm button around here?

Why would you trust any site to protect your data.
If you're not capable to protect your own data, well sure, pass it off to someone you trust, LOL.
