Windstream Modem Issues 1704
Okay. I was sent a new wireless modem when I moved. Only recently did I attempt to hook it up. I did this because of the dropping connections and such and thought might as well try it. Well, upon hooking it up, the computer could see it, but it would say no internet connection.
The other computer in the house had no problems. Putting the old modem and wireless receiver back solved the issue. But, I would like to use this new modem mostly because when I do call WS they insist on using their equipment and I cannot lug the computer across the room. Also I have a new wireless printer and it can't talk to my current hot spot. There supposed to be a way to fix this but I have no way to get into the router and tweak the settings because I don't have the info on it.
I have called WS about the computer not communicating with the modem a few times. No one can figure it out. I just get the same old song and dance that it's a latency outage. Trying to explain to them that this has nothing to do with the latency outage gets me no where. I don't know the computer verbiage enough to call the parts bt their correct name however I do have a good idea how the hardware works and have put together a few computers in my life. I'm pretty sure if I could get someone to help me with this issue I could get it fixed, if it can be fixed.
One thought that occurred to me is that my wireless card might be to old to work correctly with that modem. My computer is 5-6 years old and did not come standard with wireless and had to have a card put in.
