Thx 4 the replies: I'm good for now, until I inspect further. Zero time during week.
btw: bits of truth in all posts. The Transfer case is 4x4 manual shift by direct connect linkage. The Tranny is an auto 4-spd od. There is a transmission cooler, embedded and integrated into the radiator, additionally and auxiliary tranny cooler mounted after the radiator just B4 fluid returns to the tranny. Transmission fluid and transfer case fluid cannot mix as there is a weep hole between them. The risk of antifreeze/tranny fluid mix seems quite high in this design, but 185k original miles without this issue.
edit: Oh, I would so like to swap for a manual transmission.

I do know for the fact that in my car ('95 Bronco) there's a leak between the tranny and the T-case, but it's just not worth to fix it, at least not now.
Me too, but it's quite a bit of work, plus the tranny needs to come from the F250/F350.
Oh, I would so like to swap for a manual transmission.
