Microsoft Windows 8 does not currently support the POP3 protocol in its native mail client. We highly recommend that Windows 8 users either use webmail or another client that does support the industry standard POP3 protocol (e.g. Microsoft Live Essentials Mail, Thunderbird, Opera Mail, etc).
