Re: [Rant] Phone scamming bastards now calling when people sleep

said by lugnut :

but my Panasonic Phones allow me to block another 50 numbers, so actually between the two I've got most of them covered.

With my Panasonic system I can actually block up to 100 numbers, two different models being used. Additionally they also have a sleep function whereby once activated the phone will not ring after 9:00 PM unless the telephone number is in my phone directory's "white list".

Now if only the CRTC would amend regulations/tariffs to force the phone companies to include the "privacy" feature at no cost to the consumer, except for the present exceptions. Obviously we all know the feature is an added value to the phone companies, but they can recover their fees from the fines imposed on the telemarketers.

Actually the rat bastards at the phone companies are making money at both ends of the deal. They sell the call centers all of the sleazy spoofing and dialer services and then charge the consumers for a means to detect and counteract it.

If the CRTC REALLY gave a sh*t about consumer protection the entire business of cold calling telephone sales should be shut down and made illegal.

Really there are no winners in this fight except for Ma Bell and Robbers

Are you sure your panasonics don't have it? Take a scan thru the menus and look for something called "sleep mode."

My phones are almost 5 years old and they have it.
