[Cable] How is TSI cable in Montreal?

I'm looking to move over to TSI from Bell 25/10 "fibe". Looking at the 30mbps plan.

Can anyone who has TSI cable in Montreal let me know how it's going? What kind of routing goes on with TSI? Does everything get backhauled to Toronto first?

I work from home, and use VOIP a lot, so latency is important. I also game on WoW 2 nights a week, so I don't want something unreliable.

If anyone can give me some real life experiences, I'd definitely appreciate it!

Yes, everything on TekSavvy is backhauled through Toronto. That sort of latency difference isn't relevant to VoIP (jitter is waaay more important). Working from home is another matter.

The extra latency to backhaul through Toronto is 5ms. I'm on TekSavvy 25/10 in Montreal, and my first hop in Toronto is 13ms.

EDIT: Obviously, double that 5ms (or whatever it is) to a host in Montreal. I ping 21ms to concordia.ca, which is a few blocks away from me. I see 13ms for the last Toronto hop, and 18ms for the first Montreal hop.

13MS isn't that big of a deal then, that's fine. How's the reliability and speed? Are you on cable or DSL? 25/10 is DSL only isn't it?

On Bell 25/10, looks like I go straight out from Montreal to wherever it goes. Usually New York for most routes.

I'm looking to move away from Bell since I get some service interruptions, lag out kind of often. Reliability is key. I have a backup LTE connection I use, but I'd rather not use it as frequently as I do now. When I was on cable with Videotron, it was very reliable.

It's the VDSL2 service, the same one you're moving away from. Speed is decent, although there's been some congestion issues recently. I'd do a speed test, but I'm currently uploading at 700 KB/s, so that'd throw off any speed test

I'm on the 20/2 plan and get full speed at all times of the day. I've been with TSI since October 2012 and have been completely satisfied.

I'm on the 30/3 cable (I started with TS 25/10 DSL) and I've been very satisfied. I run VOIP at home full time and VPN into work on a regular basis. Never had any issues.

20 mbit Montreal Cable here. I had a few issues when Videotron increased the speed from 15 to 20 mbit/s a while ago, been rock solid ever since.

I'M getting 26 ms to concordia.ca, going through Toronto then back on RISQ network.

I am running voip on the MTL voip.ms servers, and never had issues (voip.ms toronto servers asre not as reliable).
