What DVR setup do you have? Some of them use MOCA, which is for lack of a better term Ethernet over Coax at a high frequency (850-1500MHz) to stream the DVR content to your remote box.

If you have older or cheap (poor quality, not cost) cable or spliters in your home, they may be causing issues. (most splitters and cables are marked with a frequency that they're rated to).

As a side note, if the content is stored on your main DVR, and the issues arrise when you try to playback on a slave unit, it's either the cabling or the boxes in the house. Make sure all of the connectors are well constructed and tight (the connectors behind the wallplates as well).

When you start getting into the higher frequencies (500MHz-2GHz), cable quality and connector quality play a much higher role in end to end performance.
