is there a way to change the DNS on the Verizon flavor mifi?

see:
»Can't open winegard.com web page

I'd like to change the DNS on the mifi to see if that fixes the problem. Since I can get to wingard from my phone, it's not all of Verizon blocking the site for some weird reason.

While this(these) solution(s) will only work on the machine they are installed on, they should at least let you test.

If Verizon does blind proxy of dns requests you can get around it using Acrylic DNS Proxy. Just specify Opendns with nonstandard port of 5353.

When you edit config change the following:

PrimaryServerAddress=208.67.222.222
PrimaryServerPort=5353

SecondaryServerAddress=208.67.220.220
SecondaryServerPort=5353

Another option I just remembered is the DNSCrypt beta software. It should also bypass the re-direction of your dns requests, if not just enable port 443 in the software.

Thanks! I'll try it this weekend.
