Nic @teksavvy.com | reply to mlerner Out of curiosity, how was my post any different than yours? I mapped you towards the same file numbers, however the release decision/s were suppose to be this week, now goes to the next one. ??? You should read your reply to my post, just saying. |

You linked a separate decision, for a different ISP - the CNOC decision we're all waiting on has to do with Rogers only. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

 | reply to resa1983 Hmm, odd, when I visit either link you guys provided to the CRTC site: I see nothing relating to the speed matching decision. Were the announcements regarding the decisions withdrawn?
Just when it looked like the long wait was over. I hope this doesn't mean they've been delayed. Or maybe I'm just blind. |

Just when it looked like the long wait was over. I hope this doesn't mean they've been delayed. Or maybe I'm just blind. The link in mlerner's post is from a copy/paste of the email sent out to people subscribed to the 'upcoming decisions' feature on the CRTC website. It doesn't have anything to do with the decision..
The link I made, is to yesterday's announcement that Monday's decisions will be released at 2pm.
Last night when we posted, the upcoming decisions page hadn't been updated yet, but it has been now: »www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/decisions.htm -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

 | Ah, sorry. I'd gotten the impression that the announcement had been added to the CRTC site, in addition to e-mails being sent. Which is why when I went to look last night, I wondered if perhaps the announcement had been withdrawn. But it's there now.
Finally, we find out one way or the other what the outcome is, some time next week. It's dragged on for over two months. And this has apparently been expedited? Yeesh. |

| Submitted in November, first part of the decision was released December, with the final bit in January..
That is expedited. And frankly fast considering all the ramifications of the request. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

 | reply to mlerner How long will it take for the higher uploads to actually take affect? Will we have to subscribe to new packages or will the 28/1 be bumped up to say 28/3 or whatever? |

Fair question, but this assumes CNOC is going to win which is by no means guaranteed. That being said, if they do win I would expect this to happen fairly quickly...thinking a few weeks, rather than a few months.
If the decision is that Rogers straight-up violated the speed-matching upgrade rules, then in theory everyone on 28/1 would automatically go to 35/3, and everyone on 18/1 to 25/2. If the decision is more complex and takes new tariff structures into account, no one can really know what the ordered remedy will be or how much it might cost. |

| reply to Perma said by Perma:How long will it take for the higher uploads to actually take affect? Will we have to subscribe to new packages or will the 28/1 be bumped up to say 28/3 or whatever? Well, the decision for agg came on December 21, 2012, and Start began offering the new speeds as of January 15, 2013.
So probably about the same timeframe if CRTC orders it for disagg.
As for whether these'll be straight upgrades, or 'new' packages, that'll be in the decision as well. This decision will also deal with Agg as well. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

If it was bad news, then they would release the decision on a Friday, not a Monday. New CRTC so older status quo may not apply but generally you may be right. The only thing is I'm still not sure it will be 100% in favour of CNOC due to the phase out of non-aggregated service and the fact that TekSavvy (the largest Rogers wholesaler) is already in the process of transitioning. |

| Also, JF made a point to me via email last night, that the CNOC decision may not be Monday.. Apparently the Primus decision is bigger than the CNOC one, so that may be the decision released at 2 on Monday. -- Battle.net Tech Support MVP |

mlernerPremium join:2000-11-25 Nepean, ON kudos:5 | Yeah, the Monday release was non-specific on which decision, typical CRTC but if that's a big decision they probably planned the release well in advance. |
