The other problem is that even with a standard cable modem that does not have a built-in router on the customer side, most ISPs block access by programs like docsdiag on DOCSIS modems anyway.
FWIW, I get either "Host 192.168.100.1 is not responding" (192.168.100.1 is the LAN IP address of my modem), or "Cable modem not found" when attempting to access my SB6121 depending on the command line parameters used. -- A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Is there anyway/program i can use to monitor my network usage. not just on my main computer It would have to be done from a router or switch through which all of your Internet traffic passes (I assume that you are talking about monitoring your Internet usage). The problem is that the usage stats in many residential/soho routers/switches will not survive a reboot. Some of the routers that can run add-on firmware such as Tomato, DD-WRT, etc, can be setup to keep usage stats in NVRAM, but that is not common with the stock firmware in most residential/soho routers. I think that some of the newer Netgear routers do keep their usage stats in NVRAM with stock Netgear firmware, but I am not absolutely sure of that. I know that my Netgear GS108e switch keeps usage stats on each of its ports (as shown below), but those stats don't survive a reboot.

Since only a limited number of people will look at this thread due to its title and its location, I suggest that you open another thread (perhaps in the »Networking forum) with your traffic monitoring question. FYI, if you do get another router/switch with usage monitoring capability, you would have to stop using the built-in switch and WiFi in your SBG6580 because any device behind it would not be able to monitor the internal traffic of the SBG6580 (and I don't think that the SBG6580 has any such usage monitoring/logging capability). -- A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
