(usually using demographics)<br>If a program needs revenue to keep it on the air, they will accept the fee they get to air it. CNN must be getting very needy in the late night. If the wording is legal, the ad will usually be accepted with the disclaimer.<br><br>What you might need to do, is get a law to make the disclaimers run slower and in larger letters. This goes on in prime time, too. Drug ads.<br>They speed read the disclaimer and it's legal.<br><br>Some agency just got Taco Bell to drop the ad about a vegetable tray being a dud at a party. You need to get after CNN and enough people complain.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[DrStrange posted : I think it's time the FTC and FBI looked into these scams.  The reason it hasn't happened yet is that many of those in charge of the would-be investigations know little more about adware and malware than the end-users who get fleeced.  If more IT people would contact them about this [the 'them' to whom I refer comprise the FBI and FTC, the media who advertise this junk, and anyone else in a position to help], then something might be done.<br><br>Anyone want to start one of those online petitions? They seem to be the way to get more eyes on a problem these days.]]></description>

There was someone at work that paid the $50 for the scareware infection they had not once, but twice, to be sure the transaction went through. When I found out I of course advised immediately contacting the bank, and I took the system home and cleaned it. <description><![CDATA[Robotics posted : I cant remember the name of the company (but the ad is still running out here in Va.) but it claims the same thing being talked about here, and near the end of the commercial they show the guy clicking to get the job done (repair all the unwanted junk) and you see an email address there that I guess the info on the junk gets mailed to (?),and it is pc-pitstop. 0.O<br><br>I remember years ago pc-pitstop was a decent place to go to...guess they have fallen on hard times.<br><br>UPDATE: just went to their site...its PC Matic. <description><![CDATA[Kearnstd posted : which is unfortunate because the article is right.  those programs do nothing that cannot be done for free.  either with built in tools or proven and tested freeware.<br><br>One thing it did not mention that I usually have done for messed up computers is run the programs like Spybot and Malwarebytes from safe mode.  Some malware hunting you have to run from Safemode with Networking because otherwise it jacks all outbound internet requests which means if a customer does not have the software already they cannot download it.(keeping in mind this is because I have mostly done this over the phone,  not in person where one would have all the tools on a CD or USB.]]></description>
