when will AT&T upgrade to the Pace 5168NV for a RG

Pace 5168NV »www.pace.com/americas/products/g···/5168nv/

Pace now owns 2wire

Looks to me like it is utilized for pair bonding. The 3801's work well but this might be the replacement RG if they decide to pair-bond everyone for higher tiers? Only time will tell.

And they should upgrade to the 5111NV for ADSL2+ U-verse.

It's not like they would have to redo their config files.

It uses the same revision firmware as the 2701HGV and 4111 do.

Now if only they would release a firmware update to the 2701HG-B so I wouldn't have to buy the buggy, unreliable, unsupported (by Motorola) NVG510 with no fix in sight...

To this day the VRADS that are pair-bonding enabled are not as widespread as one would assume. On top of that they would have to upgrade (add more cards) to the existing one to offer this with any penetration. This is definitely not an inexpensive undertaking, now with all that, what do you think.

BTW, this would be the only modem for both adsl & vdsl and for 1 pair or pair bonding. They are coming but I havent heard when I can't wait when I no longer have to install a modem on the outside of a house for pair bonding and can use this instead

Isn't the latest rumor floating around is that ATT is going to offer higher speed tiers this year.. I would think they would need to start enabling more pair-bonding VRADs than now.. Of course I know they are also planning on things such as vectoring to push more bits out of the ancient copper..

as well as increasing penetration by adding vrads in areas as well. Any vrad can do pair bonding, it depends if engineering has allowed an area to have it, but pair bonding is definitely part of increasing the speeds to the prem

My install was a pair bonding. I think they did it because I am further away from the vrad. that and i was installed back in september. I have VDSL

Also The 5168NV is good for FTTP too witch i wish i had

yes 90% of the time thats why a house will get pair bonding because we cant get enough bandwidth to the house without pair bonding in that area

Yes, we all wish we had FTTP! Fiber is definitely the future
