Re: Anyone out there using Firetide, Strix, or Mesh Dynamics?

said by wolfcreek:

Looking for some real world feedback on Firetide, Strix, and Mesh Dynamics systems. I understand all of the issues with mesh but looking at them for a Public Safety system we are bidding on with a combination of WIMAX 4.9 PtMP and mesh system as a fill in for certain areas.

We've been using Firetide for citywide as well as smaller deployments.

The 3x3 MIMO offer better speed potential than the typical 2x2. The outdoor hardware is pretty beefy as well.

That said, trying to get a technical solution out of them for a complex system is a nightmare unless you simply want to pay for them to design and configure everything for you.

Hi Mark.

What is the unit cost per deployed radio?

Depends. With Firetide you have to pay extra for the 2nd radio and MIMO so when building a true mesh with outdoor radios you're looking at around $5000k list, not including the management software licenses which are required to install, commission and manage the network.

Expect to see from 25-35% off list for the typical sized project.

What cmaengdewd said is very true. Don't expect much tech support from them, not because they won't help you but because they don't seem to have too many people that know their own product:( On one occasion we had to do a demo with them and it was sad to see how they struggled to get anything going.
