3rd generation Apple TV Issues

So, I just pulled the plug and it rebooted and started where it left off. It looked like it everything was OK, but I checked the SW version and it was still 5.1.1.

Tried it two more times with the same results. I did this on the wireless connection. It functions fine without any issues with 5.1.1.

It looks like the 5.1.1 had the same issue, but that update worked just dandy for me.

Anyone else have the same issue or a suggestion?

EDIT: Just saw the thread below on this.

EDIT 2: I feel like a real idiot. I just turned on the Apple TV to try the flash again, and it is updated! I don't have the foggiest what happened.

From what I can tell, there is still no way to rate, review, or see others' feedback of the latest version of an app from the iPad after you have installed it and tested it out, Purchased does not allow you to do that, D'oh! There is no sense in being able to rate or review an app from Updates because obviously you haven't tested out that version yet.

Uh...this is a $500 product that could have easily been sold for $300 when the next iteration came out (so, a net cost of $200 for a little over a year of ownership).

Yep, thanks. Updated and it's great using the BT keyboard with it. Only problem I have is the KB drops the connection to the mini it's usually used with when I take it in the other room (which is a good thing) but it's stays paired with the ATV when I return to my office where the mini is, lol. So I have to 'forget' device on the ATV or risk controlling the ATV when I don't intend to which is a slight pain.

The Remote app works great for the ATV but the BT keyboard support is a nice addition. For example, when you have a long media list to scroll through, hitting a letter key on the keyboard jumps through the list. I don't know of a way to do that with the Remote app.

Never really noticed any decrease in battery performance from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2. I've been demolishing my battery with LTE data and some voice calls since updating. I was at 49% and now I'm at 38%. Doesn't feel like anything changed.

I don't remember all the way back to 4.2/4.3 when the behavior you mention was changed to know if it was included in the notes, but it seems like they included more or less everything important for the 5.x and so far for the 6.x releases.

They do. It's the first screen when accepting the update on either iOS itself or in iTunes. Also listed at the link posted earlier.

Apple doesn't break down every single bug fix, because most people wouldn't understand or care about them. If you're really interested, you can start here:

My beef goes back to when they changed the double click functionality and as well as the lock screen button on the iPad without clear (for the average user) notification. IMHO, 90% of the 60 million iPhone users aren't going to do web research on updates. There's no reason why they can't have a splash screen that describes important changes on first boot after an update (with a few options "never show me, ignore, show me later, etc.").
Most users don't care about the majority of the fixes, but there are some items that should be communicated in a way that the majority will see it...(again...IMHO)

You know why? Because it would probably look pretty crappy from a PR perspective if they provided a changelog with 200 miscellaneous bugfixes and changes. Would taint their utopian image...

If you have changed the Apple ID email address since you bought the phone, the post-setup will retain the old address. You cannot change it. However if you skip the process (the only thing you can do) everything is still signed in iMessage / iCloud wise with the new ID.

edit: And it's recommended you update from iTunes, not OTA (but both will probably be supported).
