[OK] 6141 vs 6180 - Ever determine which was better?

I know this was discussed recently but I didn't find the thread at a quick glance. Both offer 8x4 bonding. I believe the difference was the chipset manufacturer.

Did we ever determine which one is better between these two? Market is OKC, if it matters.

I want to be ready in case I decide to go for the new ultimate speeds when they are rolled out.

the only other major difference other then the chipset is the 6141 has a built in moca filter so if you happen to get the whole home dvr service it already has the added protection. other then that the 6141 is easier to find retial like newegg or amazon brand new where as the 6180 was more or less sold in the cox stores unless you buy used

If I'm not mistaken the 6141 also support mid-split upstream giving it the ability to tune more higher upstream frequencies.

Both have their pros and cons.

The Puma chips TI make are a little more nature, but they still have software issues with split spectrum configs. Broadcom is the same way in that it has some issues with some specific split spectrum configs.

From a hardware standpoint I like the SB6141 better, but the next generation of Broadcom chips might provoke a switch back.

Hmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with my SB6180 randomly losing the forth upstream channel. Its not really service effecting, but hmm..

I have a 6180 in the AZ market, and it's not like I monitor channels 24/7, but I don't think I've ever had the 4th upstream channel locked.

Its always be 3 in arizona since upstream bond. upload rates are still low. no need for 4 channels.
