NiZn Revisited.

It has been a year since i tried the NiZn batts in my DImage 7 camera. They worked well for almost a year. I could let the camera sit for 2 months and still use it with no recharge.

One cell now self discharges within a week and does not hold much charge.

I ordered 8 more off ebay from China on Dec 21. They just arrived today, they sat in Hong Kong PO until last week.

Measured the voltage all but 1 were 1.714 to 1.739V. One measured 0.020V. So one may have already failed. The charger that came with will not charge batts if they are below about 1.2v.

So put dead one on my charger with a 100ma current. It seemed to charge up. I stopped at 1.9V. I put it in their charger with another one and it is slow charging. Maybe it will be ok.

Overall, they have been great. Seems the quality control on these PowerGenix batts is not great.

That batts that are still good work as new. The NiMh batts I had self-discharged and lost capacity over time quickly.

Great feedback.

There may be unsolved issues which is preventing licensing/adoption of NiZn technology. PowerGenix has actually lost their CEO and is focusing on other stuff.
