The OP's post is a bit vague as to what he called and asked about.
Though theoretically , Rogers could push out a firmware update to the Hitron modems disabling the AP. Though I've only seen Bell use customized firmwares disabling features. Haven't used Hitron modem, most recent Rogers modem I've used in years is the SMC modem/router.
