| reply to Cortland Well, you still can in iOS 6.0.2 -- you just have to get to the track listing view (for either Playlists or Albums) and you can rate the currently playing song.
This works on iOS 6.1 as well, you just have to find the "tracklisting" icon and tap on that. Here are the steps:
(iphone) Start a song Tap now playing so you get the album cover Tap the "tracklist" icon in the top right corner You get the album tracklist, with stars for rating and you can rate the currently playing song
(ipad) Start a song At the top of the screen, just to the right of the prev/pause/next and is a very teeny tiny album cover, tap that Large album cover is displayed, tap that Now, in the lower right corner is the track listing for the album, tap that Now you can rate the currently play song
