Nexus 4 JDQ39 4.2.2 OTA Update Removes Unofficial LTE on Band 4 Crap! No more LTE?

I'll avoid the update as long as possible. Background data is off, and will remain so. -- "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." ~ Albert Einstein |

| reply to Juggernaut I just did a test and there is no LTE on WIND in downtown T.O. which sucks really, I guess I don't have to hold back on updating too much. -- Support Bacteria -- It's the Only Culture Some People Have |

Does anyone know if it can be swiped away on the curtain, or does merely touching it install it? -- "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." ~ Albert Einstein |

| You can keep root even during an OTA. Download and install OTA RootKeeper on the Play Store. Run it, tell it to protect root, and then run the OTA update. Once the OTA update is complete, run OTA RootKeeper again and restore root. Tada! You're done. -- Tom Boycott AT&T uVerse! | Tom's Android Blog | AOKP (The Android Open Kang Project) |

|
trparkyApple... YUMPremium,MVM join:2000-05-24 Cleveland, OH kudos:2 | To keep LTE? The baseband update removes LTE, if you can get a hold of the older baseband and flash it via FASTBOOT you can get LTE back. |

JuggernautIrreverent or irrelevant?Premium join:2006-09-05 Kelowna, BC kudos:2 | Well, I haven't pulled the trigger on the update that's been downloaded. It's just sitting in the notification bar so far. I did download the .33 baseband from XDA to have on hand.
I have to admit I'm a rooting/ flashing n00b, and have some trepidation flashing a new device as well. -- "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." ~ Albert Einstein |

| The great thing about a Nexus device is that it's damn near incapable of being bricked. I'm not saying that you can't brick it if you do something real stupid to it, I'm just saying that it's incapable of being bricked as long as you follow common sense. Like don't flash ROMs that aren't meant for the device, don't flash kernels, recoveries, etc. -- Tom Boycott AT&T uVerse! | Tom's Android Blog | AOKP (The Android Open Kang Project) |

Re: FYI - Nexus 4 is currently available on Google Play So, now that you've had it for a while, how do you like it?
Myself, this thing's a beast. 24 down/ 19 up and can handle anything I throw at it. I generally get 2 days min. battery life.
I don't regret this purchase. -- "I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots." ~ Albert Einstein |

Will have to choose one of those. Yeah its a shame that Google insists on no SD expansion on all its Nexus devices. Been the deal killer for me. Have an old 32 GB iPod Touch and its always near full.
Then again My ASUS (who make the Google Nexus's) Transformer... is 32 GB with a 32GB SD slot plus Keyboard with another SD slot for a total of 94GB.... still usually only a few GB free on each. --

JuggernautIrreverent or irrelevant?Premium join:2006-09-05 Kelowna, BC kudos:2 | Honestly, one big reason I got it was, I had a feeling that it would be carried by the telco's here and the price would be stupid. Fido announced it, but at $420 for the 16 gig. Not so shabby.
