Re: I'm about to lose it The speeds are typical for our connection.. but you cannot do anything at all with 15% packet loss. It makes it seem like speeds are sub 0.50 down. |

You got tomorrow to have it fixed or I'm taking the next step. Unless the DSLAM is melted into nothing there is no reason for this nonsense anymore. |
|
 | Hate to see this man =( You were only up for a few weeks. Things happen but it sounds like they are once again back to being secretive about the issue. Can't believe even after the upgrade they are back to issues in your area. Makes me wonder how long my "Upgrade" will last. Keep us updated. Jitter on the line and horrendous ping times have been my biggest issues as well. You seemed to be one of the first in the forum to receive their 2013 upgrade, this is not a good sign for the longevity of the fix. Hope Aaron can find out what's going exactly and get you squared away. |

PiggieI Actually use WindstreamPremium join:2005-11-23 Orange Springs, FL | I am starting to wonder if they even have the money to connect all this equipment they bought with stimulus money to the network. Or will it all sooner or later become fancy bird houses? |
|
 | It's funny...if they put out a call to Windstream customers to voluntarily complete the work for them under supervision of somebody qualified to install all this stuff I bet they'd have all of their upgrades done in six months.
Would never happen but it's a nice thought eh? |

| reply to Bodybagger My GF talked to a local tech that actually came out to the house today.. He said that the system is FUBAR and the people in Windstream Corp in Ark don't even know how to get into the system to fix it. He said I don't even know how you guys have internet right now because the majority of people don't have anything. He stated that our problem is now with the new system and this would effect everyone on the new system and Windstream has no idea how to fix it. This is a reason why they are not hooking anyone else up right now. |
|
 | This is horrible news ;( How could they not know anything about the equipment they invested in and installed...something has to give here. |

This is a reason why they are not hooking anyone else up right now. I remember when they had a tech center in Ark and was it NE or KS? Anyway, the people there knew networking and often would talk me through things because they knew I knew something. I wonder how many install engineers they have fired? I don't think they kept anyone except sales and billing. That is really really bad news.
Maybe I need to do a new petition in our town. One that says we are feed up with Windstream and want the Cable company to invest. And we would promise to hook up with them if they install. I wonder. It would be interesting with a Carbon Copy to Jeff Gardener.

| reply to Bodybagger Surprisingly yesterday after my GF got off work the net went back to the "working" state as it was after Jan 15th. All packet loss was gone and no more high pingtimes. I really don't know wtf they are doing but it looks like we are getting toyed with again. Frustration isn't even the right word for it! I guess they finally figured out how to "get in" to the new system. It is really sad that these local techs have their hands tied in the situation. Most of them really want to provide the best service they can but are not allowed to do the things they need to do in order to achieve it. Back when it was Alltel and DSL wasn't even around the techs would bust their asses to have people running on 56k without drops, line noise, packet loss, etc. Now... all they can do is tell you it is F****D and they cannot touch it. *Words from the tech*
I'll keep you guys updated on the situation. |

| Most of the techs I know worked there when it was Alltel. Alltel was a great company both landline and cell. Sadly neither exist anymore, at least in my area. I have had techs run me a home run, check pins for packet lose, change me to another pair to improve S/N or Attn. Now? I can't even find any of the ones I know. Every single tech I knew on several forums is gone. I even had some of their emails, and no answers. Did they gag order them? There used to be a lot of Alltel/Windstream field guys in several forums I know, and all gone, and all about the same time, around or so Aug 2012. -- | Speedstream 4200 Modem - 3m/384 plan | W98-W2KSP4-XPSP2 - All AMD | Buffalo WHR G54S with Tomato 1.18 | 3 downstream switches feeding 6 total clients (no wireless) | Including the Data port on the side of my neck | |

| reply to Bodybagger Dropped again around 6pm and just came back up. Been sittin on hold and transfered around my asshole on the phone trying to get to t2. The idiots in t1 don't ever want to transfer you and they are complete retards. I mean when does someone tell you that they are getting an "IT address" and dunno why we aren't connecting and transfer us to the software support people that charge you? Are you that stupid? IT address... and repeat it to me 3 times when I ask wtf is an IT address? omfg shoot me |
|
 | LOL, the information technology address of course! That's sad...I mean these guys/gals simply do this through scripts. How can they get that part wrong? Start, type run, cmd, ipconfig, what's your IP address...not rocket science.
I'm like you in that I either want to speak with the HD manager or a T2 tech/engineer at this point. They at least won't have me power cycling off my modem and router repeatedly and clearing browser cache and unplugging and plugging back in Ethernet and phone cables. I quickly establish from the beginning all these steps have been taken and it did not resolve the issue. I usually have to explain how things work to the tech support staff which should raise some serious flags. Aren't these calls monitored to improve their troubleshooting ability and efficiency?
Last I heard my ETR was for "by the end of February if not before." I am waiting to hear from Aaron how the progress is coming along. Both Aaron and his manager had to get involved to get answers from my local team and office. I just hope they are staying on them and in doing so will actually force positive results. |

| reply to Bodybagger Another Update. The net has been holding up so far. Just a few drops here and there for nothing over 5 minutes. Packet loss hasn't returned and we are on avg seeing ping times in the ~50ms range. I was just informed by a friend of mine that lives off of Hwy 21 close to I-26 that his net is now starting the same crap that everyone on here is having; 300ms+ and 0.45Mb down at night past 6pm. A coworker at my job that lives in Cameron, SC hasn't seen any improvements yet. We must've been the first and only people upgraded in SC as of yet. |
|
 | Glad you are back up for the moment. Maybe I can be the second in SC =) I'm still waiting to hear from Aaron to see if my ETR for the end of February is still going to happen. Horrible latency and tons of line jitter makes just about everything on the net a source of frustration. Can't believe how long this has been going on. |

| reply to Bodybagger Net dropped out last night.. I don't know exactly what time but when I got up this morning my router didn't authenticate. Go in, hit connect, 2 minutes later it finally comes back up. Typical drops the router will reconnect within a ~10 minute range. Usually when it drops longer than 20 minutes, the router will stop trying to authenticate. No storms in my area last night either and the power never dropped. |

| Been down for about 2 hours now.. All I can run is a tracert and it's 9ms - 400ms and timing out on numerous hops. I don't know how this page even loaded just now as it hasn't loaded anything else up. Called and spoke with a tech that was going to contact t2 and then call me back. Not holding my breath on that call back. I hate Windstream sooooooo much. Why can't our damn internet finally work?! It's been "fixed", now wtf is the problem? And why does it now say my location is in the middle of the US? Why the hell would it be routing us like that? |

1 edit | reply to Bodybagger lol omfg they called me back... on hold now. He told me to bypass the router just like they always say. I told him it was in bridge mode and I'm not going through that BS when that's not it. He asked "What is bridged mode?" Back on hold and he finally comes back and says that the t2 tech says I have to bypass the router and take the modem out of bridge so they can troubleshoot the problem further. He then went on to say that our distance was 14k feet and just on the verge of not being able to get 3Mb service and that is probably why our service has never been fixed. WTF?! When it works it's perfect.. so how the hell can it be distance related now all of sudden? And to top that off, I was told last year that the distance was even further than that. So how can our distance magically change? I need some liquor... hardcore.
Copied from Windstream Direct:
The DLC that Austin and Aaron pulls out of is currently on Copper T-1's and the Dslam is also copper fed with 8 T-1's. The 2 customers are around 3.5 miles and have 3mg service . They are at the end of the line. We have ran test on the cable they work out of and it test clean. We are in the middle a Stimulus project to install Fiber to this DLC and add a new DLC close to them that will be fiber fed as well. We expect this to be completed around October.
That's what is being done to permanently resolve you and your brothers issue. |

Don't count on your internet ever being fixed by these clowns. God I wish we could get cable. |
