network storage and back up solution

I want to organize my backups and storage more efficiently.

I want to buy 2 harddrives (maybe 2TB x 2 or 3TB x 2? what kind of interface , sata 2?). one drive will be the main storage. the 2nd drive to backup the 1st drive.

I would like to put these two drives on a network. I already have a gigabit router. I'd also like for whenever i save to one drive it auto saves a copy in the second drive.

I have
win7 laptop
win7 desktop
win xp desktop
android phone
iphone
ipad
macbook air
and may purchase an android tablet in the future.

I'd like all my devices to have access to the network storage

i may also want to access the drive from anywhere in the world, on any of my devices.

what kind of solutions should i look at

what you want is called a server

server software will let you mirror drives, set up networks, share files, stream media, etc

Take your pick from the hardware you currently have and add "server" software. Or buy a NAS pre-built.

what ever you decide, if it has a html interface, all of your devices can accesses the media portal using a browser. no need to configure each device to find the network share

I use this with 2 1TB HD's with RAID 1.

If you want accessibility from any device, worldwide, then you'll want to look at Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon, etc cloud type storage.
