If Cogeco intends to compete with Bell (or anyone else for that matter), an unlimited option has to happen. It may be costly ($30 is nuts IMHO) though.

It isn't just about the money, though it is a huge factor.

These companies are protecting their legacy business models - outdated modes of business that are failing and they have no idea what to do. So they've tacked on these insane charges with obscene markup onto their internet services to prevent people from ditching their legacy cable tv services. The profits are a side effect that stokes shareholder value.

This is precisely why Canada ranks so low for internet access and why that will not only continue, but get worse.

Yes its for real. Its $10 addon if you have 3 services, $30 if you have less than 3 services. Although I have had 2 friends get the $10 when they are on dryloop only.

Cogeco stinks in quebec, at least in ontario they have start/teksavvy,

I want my fibe 50/50 ! :( not some 14/1.5 with cogescrap for 80$ a month because i stream/download alot..

Because that would require Cogeco to use channel bonding (4 channels) for the upstream instead of just using 1 channel. Its not that they're not reciprocating, its just that the network may not be ready for it, as its congested enough as is.
