If the regulated Public Switched Telephone Network goes away only a corrupt government would keep the Universal Service Fund and any other telecommunications subsidies. AT&T and Verizon should also be forbidden from receiving any tax breaks or corporate welfare. They should also be required to face any and all competition without any high barriers to entry and even including competition from municipal governments. Once the de-regulation takes place it should also be made absolutely clear that AT&T and Verizon will have the right to fail with no bailouts and no guarantees of profits from the people or our government. |
