[NV] New speeds live in Vegas

The speed upgrade is now in effect in Vegas. Just downloaded a 1.5GB file and it was a solid 6MB/sec. download the entire time. Upload is now 5mb/sec. Thinking of going to ultimate but will have to wait to see how Cox handles a BS fee they charged me. 150mb/sec. is very tempting.

Have you tried restarting/unplugging your modem? Maybe it's a staggered update.

Went live here about 12:10AM, my router (the Netgear CG3000D-RG I'm renting from Cox till I can find a good deal on a nice Gigabit one that I can put some decent custom firmware on) kicked out for about 2 minutes then came back up. I ran a test pulling data from Astraweb and it went from a nearly rock solid 2-2.1 MB/s to s pretty much rock solid 3.1-3.2 MB/s - Task Manager's network tab showed me a nearly flat line so, I'm happy with it I guess.

Now if they'd just bump the cap (200GB with my Preferred) - I do a lot of software testing that requires me to get some fairly large files and I get sick of having to monitor myself almost daily to make sure I don't get myself in any trouble . Just pulled about 197GB last month (billing period ended on the 21st).

Come on, Cox, how about a little bit more bandwidth now that you're raising prices a little bit more...

(and I don't even want to hear "switch to another plan" either, that's a tired lame excuse considering that article I found and linked to in the other thread with regards to bandwidth caps and the myth of congestion)

Not bad for $32 a month.

Cord cutting is imminent. Once that happens I'll probably change my review to reflect the improvement of service.

That "$32 a month" has me wondering... are you referring to a package as part of a bundle (the $99/month cable/phone/Internet thing)? Just curious...

I see the speeds. Does anyone know of a wireless router than can give these speeds to my computer through a wired connection?

For Arizona:
What is Premier HSI supposed to be increased to?
After a reboot I am only seeing 30-33Mbps (up from ~25Mbps)

Powerboost now jumps to 60Mbps, but sustained I am only seeing 30-33Mbps

I'm seeing 80/20 now on ultimate. What are the official upgrade speeds for Vegas?

Edit:

On the VA page they list their ultimate speeds as 100/20 (with powerboost). Is this what Vegas is getting too? The Vegas page hasn't been updated quite yet. Neither has AZ's.

You didn't actually just say that, did you? Not all routers are "fine," not even close, and I require 11n wireless as well (kind of a given with a Gigabit router these days, especially one with a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem integrated as well.

There's nothing particularly wrong with this Netgear one from Cox except I can't do much with it in terms of administration or custom firmware so, at some point it's got to go.

And it overheats pretty severely, almost to the point of me wanting to Jerry-rig a fan onto the vents on top. I mean, really really hot at times, it's a bit ridiculous to be honest.

Anywhoo... ever since the "upgrade" hours ago I've noted that general browsing is very slow, very laggy so I'm guessing it'll pass at some point but, maybe it's related to some DNS issues as well, will do some testing and maybe switch over to Google DNS for a bit.

Yeah, I think I need to upgrade my modem then. I'm not seeing that speed on any test I try. I'm using the SB6120. Thing is it says max for this modem is 150Mbps down, but I'm not even seeing that.

I personally think this is kind of a bad move on cox's part, as 150mbps down on 6 channel's is asking a lot, and only gonna be more headache's for cox to maintain in the future. Cox doesn't promise speed's, just like all other provider's. So if I am you guy's on ultimate, and can keep a solid 100mbps down I would be happy. As these number's are a little high at 150mbps, and not very realistic to expect at all times during peak usage, as all bandwidth is shared.

Yes you need to upgrade to a 8x4 D3 modem, if your on premier or above tier. As having as many downstream channel's available is key, to keep your speed's more steady, and to have more available bandwidth at all times.

A 4x4 Docsis 3 modem is fine for the 50mb tier but it's pushing it with the 150mb tier.

Do you have ultimate? if so just run shaperprobe, and see what kind of results it gives you.
