There are several possible reasons why this problem occurred, however you should start trying to figure it out by looking in the Event Viewer, to see if anything network/dhcp related happened around the time of the loss of network connectivity, then we can make a better assessment of what needs to be done.

I keep forgetting about the Even Viewer, partially because I can't read it.
