Rename name of device assigned with static IP address.I have an Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 router (firmware version 20.19.8). I appears that I can change rename a device that has a dynamic IP address assigned to it (in the My Network section), but is it possible to rename a device that has a static IP address assigned to it? |

With a true static ip address, no. If you give it a reserved dhcp address from w/in the Actiontec (which it actually calls static for some reason), yes. |

What you can do is assign your own name to the device in the "hosts" file (/etc/hosts on most systems, something else on Windows, I forget what). Of course, you have to set this for each machine. |

@kes601: I did some research on reserved DHCP and ran with it. Thanks! |
