andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | reply to mikedz4 I have noticed with A30 that sometimes the box does a soft reset, where it wipes the guide data and re-downloads the menus. It's not a hard reset like a reboot, but more like stopping and restarting the software. In the iGuide diagnostics, on the DB status page, it's listed as a 'purge'. I've found that once it does that, it keeps doing it every few hours. A full reboot will help, but I've seen it start doing it again after 5, 13, and 27 days. |

 | why couldn't they just skip a30 and go to the x1? |

 | they shouldn't take OVER 24 hours to populate and they didn't even fully populate yesterday evening. |

FYI - There is a thread in the Comcast Help and Support Forum from someone else in the Pittsburgh area also complaining about the guide (on their new DCX3501 DVR) now taking a very long time to re-populate:

andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | I have found A30 is a bit weirder about updating after a reboot. It can take 24 hours before it starts to really fill in, and over a week to fully stabilize and settle down to the standard 9-11 days. Worse, I've been seeing it occasionally get into a purge mode where it wipes the data and basically does a soft restart, over and over every few hours. |
