Actiotec swap out

Will be receiving a swap unit for my Rev D today.
I have a really old (Rev A ?) sitting around.
Wondering if I can send that back, instead of sending back the Rev D. It would be great to keep the newer of the two as a back up.
Thoughts ?

I wouldn't. They know which revision you have because if they know you have a really old one they won't even want it back.

Interesting, paperwork with replacement "Rev F" router says:
"return of the model you were using is no longer required".
Seems Rev "D" has been obsoleted.

rev a-d apparently does not need to be returned.

I would use it as a MOCA adapater for those hard to reach rooms (wireless weak signal)

Keep them around just incase you need a temporary replacement if ur current Actiontec breaks down.

I called up Verizon a week or so ago and told them I was "having troubles with the small NAT table" in my Rev D Actiontec that I've had since 2009. They said that they could change it out for a "Gen 2" unit (Rev E or F) for free, but I'd have to pay if I wanted a "Gen 3" (Rev I). I told them the Gen 2 would be fine for now. The Verizon warehouse gods were smiling on me that day... a brand new Rev I showed up in UPS the next day (and they said I could keep the Rev D to boot!). Sweet!

I've personally been finding Verizon send out Rev. I's regardless. A relative of mine called in to report an issue with their TV guide not updating, and it turns out their ActionTec Rev. F after two years of uptime just needed a reboot. That was not attempted by Verizon and instead they just shipped a new router. New one came, Rev. I stuffed inside and the relative only pays for the 20Mbps/5Mbps (25Mbps/7Mbps :P) service. How nice.

The Rev F will be replaced by another swap out.
I found the F they sent me was not capable of clearing its own System log, retaining entries dating back to 2007. Numerous reboots, factor resets, power cycles, by myself & tech support were of no help.
Maybe a Rev I this time ? Stay tuned.

Log entries from 2007 are an artifact of reboots. Those log entries are created before the system time in the router is set and therefore default to a fixed time. It is not a failure to clean up the log.

oh there are some 27 pages of entries that never clear, and, there is no "clear log" pushbutton. Sorry I did not go into intimate detail.
