I downloaded the file and scanned it with Avast antivirus and it said that it was a decompression bomb. I don't know what that is but I don't think I need it.

This is from Avast forums in regards to "decompression bombs"...
Quote:
A decompression bomb is a file that unpacks to an enormous amount of data - thus "flooding" the unpacking engine. It's quite hard to detect such files reliably, so it's possible that it gives some false alarms ocassionally...
Quote:Typically such a bomb is a multi-level packing thing -- data's compressed with one packer (e.g. into a zip), then the resulting archive file is in turn packed (usually with a different packer), and so on several times.
If you are ever in doubt about any suspicious files you can always submit them to various other virus checkers....

Note that Puran utilities opens an "IE" window along with their utility.
So when you run "puran", you are also running "IE" too.
(I'll try to write more about that this evening.)
(If your firewall blocks IE, then not an issue.)

They also (at least the ones I looked at) require Admin privileges.
And while there is not anything necessarily wrong with that, it would be better (safer) to not do so, only to elevate when the need arises.
