2 edits | [Speed] Speed increase. Powerboost gone? Just got this email from Comcast:
quote: Dear Valued Customer,
Great news! We've increased your Internet speed!
Now the download speed on your Internet service is over 30% faster with speeds up to 20 Mbps and upload speeds up to 4 Mbps.
I'm on performance, was 16/2 with powerboost to 24/4.
Can't be sure but it looks like powerboost is gone for me now, or it's only a small boost. I can be sure it's gone for uploads, uploads now go to 4 and sit there. I haven't been able to get a sustained download speed for a large file today, it's been jumping between 12 and 22, but spending most of the time between 18 and 22, so I think it is averaging out to around 20.
Update: Now that my connection speed has stabilized I can say all the reliable speed tests are showing a consistent 22/4, with no powerboost. |

I got that letter too and am getting sustained speeds of about 20/4.5 with no Powerboost present:

1 edit | That's a test site I haven't seen before, I'm getting even higher numbers on that test 23.8 down and 4.8 up:

 | reply to mrschultz02 Hmm, I wonder if we'll be seeing this in Portland, OR. |

1 edit | reply to Linklist Cool site.....Thanks for posting it. I wonder if Comcast is rolling out another speed increase in other markets too? I am already on the 50/5 plan which is working great. More to come? We'll see. Good for you guys in PA & DC!

There's still a little boost, but now it's capped powerboost whereas previously it would boost as high as it could given the available excess bandwidth on the channel(s). -- "I drank what?" -Socrates |

 | reply to mrschultz02 No email or speed change yet in CT for me . |

 | reply to Linklist Wow...maybe my connection doesn't like HTML test sites...my speeds were really bad. The server was in DC and I posted a 11 d and 5 up. :-( Anyway, thanks for the new site. I'll try them again later tonight. |

| reply to Darknessfall I sent an IM to Karl Bode and he replied that he wasn't aware of the speed upgrades in the PA and DC areas, but he will check with his sources and get the scoop. I am in the Carmel, NY Comcast market and we had a speed upgrade last year around the spring time I think. I'll let you know if any info comes from Karl about this recent one. |

| Nice! I was in another forum where they mentioned that Comcast is now charging a $1.99 for the any additional digital boxes that were once free. My thought is I wondering if they are doing this to offset any negative reaction to the additional charges. Anyway, I'll take the speed increase any day. |

Trying to see when people nearby begin getting it. |

So you're like me and would rather have higher sustained speeds and little to no powerboost than slower sustained speeds and massive powerboost. -- "I drank what?" -Socrates |

 | @pflog What kind of speeds do you get on business class? |
