 | reply to mrschultz02 Heard an ad on the radio (WRIF Detroit) from Comcast saying they were going to double the speeds on some of the most popular tiers "soon". A little cryptic...but a good sign. |

So we'll just have to wait and see. |

 | reply to mrschultz02 I've apparently already received some kind of speed upgrade:
./prober
DiffProbe beta release. October 2009.
Shaper Detection Module.
Connected to server 64.9.225.142.
Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 5783 Kbps.
Downstream: 27033 Kbps.
The measurement will last for about 2.5 minutes. Please wait.
Checking for traffic shapers:
Upstream: Burst size: 4900-4995 KB; Shaping rate: 3192 Kbps.
Downstream: Burst size: 9636-9991 KB; Shaping rate: 17061 Kbps.
For more information, visit: http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~partha/diffprobe
Was originally 6/1. A year or so later: Got a free bump to 12/2. Under 12/2 I never saw burst rates over about 22 down and 5 up, IIRC. So I'm seeing both higher sustained down/up and, it looks like, higher PB.
Don't know when it started. I first looked sometime last week or so, in response to an article somewhere else on DSLR.
I'm on Business HSI, btw.

 | 17/3 ? That's an odd speed. |

 | reply to mrschultz02 How about in Portland,OR?
I'm on Blast Plus (30 Mbps down 5 Mbps up). |
|
 | I haven't seen anything so far in PDX.
We'll just have to wait a bit longer. I'm thinking we'll have it in March or April. |

Re: [Speed] Speed increase I saw the Xfinity ad here in Detroit.
Rolling across the top, it said "Doubling speeds on our 2 fastest tiers soon" and "200meg service coming this summer." |

| I heard the ad again too. This time I listened better and as jblues said double for 2 fastest tiers (I would guess is Blast and extreme).
But they also said about 60% faster for their most popular tier, which I assume is performance.
Kind of hard to record the ad going 75 on the freeway |

And according to here, Performance is getting updated to the current Blast! speed of 25/4

PS: Record it when you can. It's understandable going down the freeway. |

 | reply to mustang50 said by mustang50:Kind of hard to record the ad going 75 on the freeway You're only going 75 mph on a Detroit freeway? When I lived there you'd be run over by the gasoline tankers doing 90 mph. In fact the state cops didn't stop folks on I-96 going less than 90 because there were plenty doing 100 mph or higher between Detroit and Lansing. |
|
 | I didn't want to incriminate myself...lol OK so maybe a little faster |
