Re: [Speed] Speed increase. I wonder if/when they'll fix this PB on Performance. I'm not complaining though :P.
I originally had issues when the upgrade came with 100 kbps upload but I contacted support and they fixed over live chat . |

| reply to MRCUR said by MRCUR:Still no upgrade here on the E-Town PA system. The website has been changed to reflect the new 20/4 speeds on Performance, and reps are saying that it's 20/4, but I was still getting 16/2 as of this morning.
I ended up going with 50/10 today, but thought I'd give one last update. Well, when the upgrade finally hits, looks like you'll be set to get 105. Enjoy it for me, eh? |

| reply to mrschultz02 UPDATE I just called to get upgraded to Extreme 50 (I figured I would sub for a month and then go back to Blast while retaining same speeds)
The lady was super awesome and seemed very knowledgeble. She was jealous of me having the X1 box and we chit chatted a bit and she told me how the box has 4 tuners but that Comcast hasn't enabled them yet cuz they are waiting the trial over other cable companies and the Genie Hopper, something about that. Anyways, she confirmed with me that they got the memo on Tuesday that the speed upgrades are rolling out NATIONWIDE and will be complete BY April 1st.
I'm still on old blast speeds though so i'm thinking maybe it takes 24 hours or so for the changes to take effect. Also just as I imagined, no truck roll was needed. |

 | The "Genie" (aka the HR34) is a Directv receiver.
The "Hopper" is a Dish Network receiver. This is the one that lets you automatically skip commercials in recorded programs. |
|
 | reply to egeek84 And also, if you change speed packages it doesn't take 24 hours to see the speed increase. Should be instant after they push the correct config file to the modem. -- »www.VAJeeps.com | »www.ChinchillasForum.com |

1 edit | reply to mrschultz02 How do I check which "provisioning file" my modem/gateway (SMCD3GNV) has?
Also, how is it that you "force" it to reprovision? Do you have to reset it or just disconnecting from power outlet and connecting again will do it?
Thanks. (and excuse me if I'm not using some of the technical terms correctly) -- math PhD student (University of Miami) |

Thanks. (and excuse me if I'm not using some of the technical terms correctly) Don't believe the config file will change as the upgrade is to the service you already have. The upgrade is in the works as where I live (Redlands) the downstream is already pumped up to 100mb. and they have been working on the upstream. May have to power cycle the modem to see the new speeds. I have the Extreme 50 Package. BTW rough loss last night for the Canes
DiffProbe release. January 2012. Shaper Detection Module.
Connected to server 213.244.128.168.
Estimating capacity: Upstream: 10180 Kbps. Downstream: 90828 Kbps.
The measurement will last for about 2.5 minutes. Please wait.
Checking for traffic shapers:
Upstream: No shaper detected. Median received rate: 9968 Kbps.
Downstream: Burst size: 17502-17694 KB; Shaping rate: 54394 Kbps. |

 | reply to Wildchld Still don't have the upgrade in Fort Lauderdale. I heard somewhere that the 4th will be the date? We can only hope? BTW I'm on the Blast!/Ultra tier and get 36/down and 7/up. -- "The relationship between what we see and what we know is never settled..." |

 | reply to mrschultz02 In Atlanta the other day I heard a radio commercial from Comcast claiming 60% speed increase on most of their tiers. Did anyone in GA get these increases? My Blast is still at 25mbps. |

| reply to mrschultz02 so ive had a few hours with these new speeds and im sorry but whoever said you wont notice anything or dont need faster speeds had no idea what they were talking about. Websites were already loading fast as hell before but now it is like instant almost as if my mouse can't even catch up. It's almost as if i'm not even accessing the internet and rather doing stuff over a LAN, there is literally no delay.
Steam downloads are going hella quicker too. God I am in love. I am so tempted to go with the Extreme 100 plan now. I feel the need for speed lol! |

MadtownPremium join:2008-04-26 Madera, CA | reply to mrschultz02 How much of a noticeable difference will I notice going from 16mbps to 20mbps? I play Xbox Live, watch movies in HD on Netflix, web browse, DL contents from the Xbox Live marketplace, watch Youtube videos, Twitch.TV, Justin.TV.
I get 16 sustain rate, 20 or more with PB. |

I get 16 sustain rate, 20 or more with PB. If you get the increase to 22 down sustained the place you will notice the difference is downloading large files (stuff over a few hundred MB). Almost 1/3 less time to download big files. For me the only difference streaming wise is that I can now stream Vudu 3D in HDX, it pulls 11Mbps continuous so I don't know why I couldn't stream it when I was at 16, but now can at 22. All other (even HD) streaming I do uses way less than 16, so no difference with any of those. I suppose if you have a lot of people at home you could now get one extra person doing simultaneous streaming. |
