I'm trying to pinpoint the culprit because I keep blaming it on the server and they keep blaming it on my Isp. With both Time Warner and Verizon my ping to this server has always been in the 25ms - 30ms range. My ping from Auburn to Syracuse on speedtest.net is 30ms where it should be around 5ms or below. With Time Warner my ping from Auburn to Syracuse was 5ms.
Is there a way to get a better route short of calling Verizon? My gut tells me they won't do anything or acknowledge any problems, so far I haven't received any response in the Verizon direct section and it's been a week since I posted there.
@Smith, is your workplace using Fios? If so, would you mind posting a traceroute?
