Shift 2 and Gran Turismo seem to be the top racing games that people talk about. Personally, I've played a few games in the Need for Speed Series Though I played Gran Turismo on my neighbor's playstation several years ago....good times.

What about racing games that allow you to do mid-air tricks and in-game achievements? I've seen a few games outside of car racing that were pretty cool.
