[CA] Upgrades in San Diego?

If I recall correctly, some areas are going to 15 Mbps upstream on the Premier plan. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe that upstream channel bonding is required to get this speed. No idea when the San Diego area will get upstream bonding.

Unfortunately, with no local fiber optic competition, the SD area seems to lag behind when enhancements are made.

AZ and Vegas have no Fiber competition, just Centurylink DSL (telco), so this is not a competition issue.

That's good to hear I guess. Hope it is a mass roll-out. Hopefully a tech can shine a little insight .

Well something appears to be happening in SD. I noticed last night I now have 4 channel upstream bonding and speedtests show a big improvement in upload. I'm in Mission Valley on the premier package.

I am not getting channel bonding and my upload and download are unchanged.

No sign of any upstream bonding yet here in Poway, but it is likely that it will show up in San Diego first and reach the suburbs later.

So I called Cox and they pretty much had no clue about what was going on. He was nice enough to go dig up some info and offered to call me back. 15 minutes later, and he tells me they're upping the speeds in all markets! He did say they have no info as to what market is next, but they'll be reaching everyone throughout the year. Just hope South SD doesn't take too long...!

I am only bonding to 4/1 in northern Escondido.

With my new Cisco 8x4 modem my I still see 8 channels down / 1 channel up here in Vista. Better than the 4x1 I saw with my old Motorola 6120, but still. I've been on the lookout for upstream bonding for like a year now. Seems like forever to get it.

I still see Cox trucks doing work all over the place for some time now so I think it's coming soon. After hearing of the new speeds in the upgraded markets I just upgraded my modem to a 8x4 capable one and ordered a new gigabit router and switch because I realized only 100mb fast ethernet on my home network wont cut it with the new speeds.

What model Cisco modem do you use?

Make sure Cox has yor on Premier D3 on you account. there are 2 premiers. D3 is for Docsis 3 modems.

Is this directed at me? If so, I assume I'm on the correct plan considering I'm bonding to 4x1?

I just ran a speed test and saw 20 Mbps upstream. I checked my modem, and sure enough I have 4 upstream channels. I found this thread via google, and am just confirming that there is now upstream channel bonding in SD. Awesome.
