However, I was able to find HeyWire which claims you're able to send to any phone regardless if the other person has it installed or not. Use at your own risk though. No idea whether it works. |

Heywire works for texts, not sure about mms. A family member ran out of prepaid minutes and installed it to be able to keep in touch with me over wifi. She is not a techie, so wasn't even going to look at VoIP. I never installed it because I hate apps that stick an advertising footer at the botom of an email/text for your recipient. In-app advertising is 1 thing, spamming your friends is entirely different. |
