well that seems odd. could you post up transceiver statistics? if you don't know how to get these, post up modem make and model and can point you in the right direction.

for the moment speed and ping are back to normal.
these numbers don't change when ping is high and speed is low

With stats like those, I'm wonder if what you're seeing happens to be due to Uncorrectable errors on the line. At such a distance you're going to run into those.

as Smith6612 states, your stats aren't all that great, and could use some improvement, as your upstream is out of sync (should be 864). i would suggest the usual check wall jacks, cords, filters, etc..., and see if you can get your stats in better shape. if this fails, you might want to get verizon to send you a new modem, as they can go bad over time, especially on longer lines. i recommend either a westell 6100G, or if you want a gateway, the actiontec gt784wnv.

I have a 20 foot wire from interface to modem, no land lines in this house. How do I get Verizon to send a new modem? Do they have one that will handle the 802.11n card in my computer? Can I buy one that will plug into the DSL line?

to get verizon to send you a new modem, just call them and ask them for one. as for the two questions, an actiontec gt784wnv will do both. when calling them, specify that you would like that model.
