All those test out fine. and AGAS congestion at 3 and 4AM?!
Could be.. and yes I need to WAIT till i'm activated!
Still worried about having these slows speeds when that happens.
The main issue there shouldn't be a HUGE drop off in downloads speeds at all times during the day and night, just by changing my login! |

 | reply to Calmuser Are you noticing any latency changes between logings? Or anything else odd? Or just the speed changes? |

But my downloads remain the same speeds through out the day.
Switch back to my Bell login and everything is normal and fast. |
|
 | reply to Calmuser And you speedtest fine, all the time, but HTTP downloads are slow on the Tek login?
Weird... |

| reply to Calmuser The fact that your BHell login functions as advertised and your unactivated TSI account vitually eliminates any kind of throttling/line issues and is almost certainly related to your TSI acct alone. As someone mentioned new accts are often left at the 3kbps profile until TSI has it adjusted to their profile. -- If my online experience is enhanced, why are my speeds throttled?? BHell... A Public Futility. |

Weird... Yep speed tests are fine. They do go down a bit during prime.
Downloads are slow through the day on the Tek login.
Speed tests and downloads are fine 24/7 with the Bell login.
Its just weird, it shouldn't be happening!
yes AkFubar, it could be that.
That's why I want a CLEAR answer from TSI saying as much. Then I can stop worrying so much about this. |

I'll repeat what others have said, wait until your account has been activated. Before then Bell can do whatever they want with your line. When I was switching from Bell to TSI, there was a time the line was switch to 3Mb before being switched to the subscribed rate. |

| reply to Calmuser A lot of the information being reported by users here in this thread and on the forums often isn't information that was given by TekSavvy. Some of it comes from conversations with reps, people know employees in Bell, people working in the industry, etc.
So the clear answer your looking for TekSavvy to provide you might be something they can 100% accurately give since they don't control anything Bell does on their own equipment.
Your best bet to getting your answer to ask if anyone else here on the forums in your neighbourhood. has the same DSL plan you've ordered and ask if they have had any issues with speed and/or congestion.
But as others have said, if it works fine now with a Bell account, the chance of it not working the same with TekSavvy is remote. |
|
 | reply to Calmuser thanks everyone.
I am a little more at ease now.
Guess best bet is to wait till the 22nd and see how it goes from there.
And HOPE Bell doesn't mess up the install!
I'm sure TSI will more then happy to help once they can! |

| reply to Calmuser I've had this happen to me before.
I was given an activation date of, say, February 10. My internet and TekSavvy PPPoE login was working a few days before (say, February 7-8-9) but the speed was slow.
After February 10, the connection was at full speed (e.g. 6000/800).
Just wait for it to be activated |

 | reply to Calmuser For what it's worth, I too have experienced the same kind of issue. There is a fix that seemed to correct the problem. Once the line was activated and the service was working, I had to unplug my modem and router, then plug them back in. From there, I had to use the following steps in an elevated command prompt:
1) ipconfig /release 2) ipconfig /flushdns 3) netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt 4) netsh int tcp reset resetlog.txt 5) netsh winsock reset resetlog.txt
Reboot the computer and you should be set to go. This generally fixes this kind of issue on new installations from my experience. |

| reply to Calmuser the main prob with all these answer are, am I am on A FASTER speed then I will be when I get activated with my TSI account which will be 15/1
Right now i'm on a Fibe 16 Bell profile
I am getting correct speeds using speed test results. the only place where I am not getting correct speeds is on downloading anything on HTTP. They seem to be throttled to a 3MB connection not my 16mb profile that the speed test results show.
Guess i'll see if it magically resolves itself after full activation. |
|
 | reply to Calmuser How many physical DSL lines do you have coming into the home, and are you using the same one for testing Bell & TSI login?
I guess its possible TSI throttles partially active PPPoE Logins, never heard this before though. |

Yes, I think they are doing something, but don't want to admit it.
I could be wrong, but something is obviously happening!
Maybe Bell is throttling any 3rd party login? when your signed up with them.
From my speed tests it shows their not rating limiting my line with the login since they obviously can't. But from the login it seems they throttling or something on all HTTP requests.
But is this possible, can an ISP control HTTP speeds from just a login? |

I recall a very similar situation when I gave Bell the proverbial "one finger salute" and moved to TekSavvy. The issue only seemed to start right after Bell confirmed the service had been "cancelled". Once I got the call from the Bell Tech to say that the TekSavvy DSL was now "active", the problem seemed to stop dead in its tracks and so far, hasn't come back since. |
|
 | reply to Calmuser I wouldn't put it past Bell do something like this!
Still troubling that TSI won't give an official reply on the issue. |
|
 | I imagine that it could be because it would require the attention of someone like TSI Andre to comment on, as apposed to just "any" staff member... Who knows though. |

TSI MartinPremium join:2006-02-23 Chatham, ON kudos:23 | reply to Calmuser We can't really do anything about your issue till the line is active. There shouldn't be a reason for you to have slow speeds when you switch to our login. But I doubt there is anything about it that has to do with the profile itself.
Bell frowns upon Wholesalers login on their active line... could well possibly be some setting at the BAS that slows down logins that aren't Bell's. But that a speculation & guess not fact!
