not if you are getting one for a mostly blind user that needs the text of everything to be scaled up pretty far.

Do they need a laptop? If not a mac mini plus a cheap 27" display at 1920x1080 would work great.

Thats basically what he's got now, save it's a 32" TV, but he wants something portable.

Gotcha. Just checked my 15" retina and it goes to 1024x640. That's super huge.

Otherwise you're in for a refurb 17" but then you miss out on USB3.
