Selenia posted : 1.4.1(current stable wine) compiled very easily on my hybrid squeeze(stable running some testing, compiled, and unstable packages). The Debian package is just too old for me(1.0.x). Try grabbing the source from WineHQ and building. I have had better luck with support for certain things, both with Debian and Ubuntu(back when I was trying it out).

reub2000 posted : I'm trying to run wine on a amd64 installation of debian sid. Neither the amd64 or i386 versions seem to work.

The 64-bit verson gives me this error:

[reub2000@reub2000 ~]$ wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Adobe/Adobe\ Digital\ Editions/digitaleditions.exe ** Debian / Wine: Multiarch Instructions ** This is the wine64-bin helper package, which does not provide wine itself, but instead exists solely to provide the following information aboutenabling multiarch on your system in order to be able to install and runthe 32-bit wine packages. The following commands should be issued as root or via sudo in order toenable multiarch (the last command installs 32-bit wine): # dpkg --add-architecture i386 # apt-get update # apt-get install wine-bin:i386 Be very careful as spaces matter above.
