I ABSOLUTELY recommend my the D-Link, it's handles my line better than the the Thomson 516. And yes, the TP 8816 just can't handle ADSL2 in my opinion.

The 8816 handles the lower ADSL2+ profiles but some people reports problems on the 19455/1085 profile. Depends on your line. The Broadcom modems seem to handle the higher profile better.

Another good choice is an unlocked 2wire.

That's my experience, My profile is 19455/797 and the 8816 couldn't handle it. And I find the ST516 overrated because it's not reliable (overheating).

The D-Link on the other hand fills its purpose since it's a set it and forget it device.
