EVDO vs LTEA benefit of the LTE rollout in my area is that the existing 3G towers finally have fiber and got off of the copper. As they never had enough bandwidth (not enough T-1s to the sites), EVDO was much slower than it should have been. Now that the fiber is turned up (Gig-E?), the 3g stuff SCREAMS! As I and my kid are both heavy users (between 2-4 gig each per month), I am going to stay on my granfathered unlimited 3g family plan as long as possible. My Droid2 (R2-D2) and my kids Iphone 4s are AWESOME now, and still work great, so I am comfy where I am at, and will stay 3g until they boot me off. |

Heck I just may buy my phone off contract, and just wi-fi everything. I hardly use my phone as a phone anymore, and more like a hand held computer, and 90% of the time on Wi-Fi.
With Google voice, phone and messaging is easy over wi-fi. No need to pay extra. |
