[INTERNET] Video interference all of a Sudden?

In Waterdown...all stations now have horizontal "bars" that break up the picture on any/all stations...fuzzy...pixelated bands sort of...

Not all the time nor does it happen with any pattern etc...

But occurs at least a couple of times for a second or two every couple of minutes...

Why? What causes this & how do I kill it?

Jim

Does no one else get this kind of horiz interference?

Hmm...

I can think of a few of causes for that...

Can you do me a favour and check something for me? Next time it's happening, hit the "guide" button, and let me know if the bars overlay the whole screen, or just the picture-in-guide part of the screen.

Ahhh...thnx for the help!

When looking at the bars an then hitting Guide...

The bars are NOT all over the screen but only i the pix-in-guide section...

But...what dos taht mean?

IMHO, ther is something wrong with the lines themselves? Or???

Ok,

That means everything is fine with your TV, and the connection between the TV and the Digital Box output. So... this would be an issue with the input side of the Digital Box, or the signal coming in.

Um...okay, I think I got that.

So, this "input side of the digital box?" - is that the HDMI plug you mean? It's like a 3 week old brand new LG 1080p tv and the cable came with the tv so I'd think the plug and the connection are fine.

If that's true - then is this a Cogeco issue? ie somewhere tween the tv and the box out at the curb is the issue?

Oh and if so, do I call tech support to get someone out here to fix that?

Yep, give them a call and they'll walk you through some brief troubleshooting and then schedule you a service call to look at it if necessary.

Called tech support & they rebooted the HD receiver....and those horizontal interference bars disappeared!

Reminded me tho that I hate trying to communicate with non-north american cultures and ESL tech support>>>

Sigh...

That's the one thing I like about Cogeco, when I call them, I know I'm getting someone in Burlington.
