It has been good, but this is goodbyeI have closed my Teksavvy chapter, but I do not leave angry or unhappy or any of all that.
My tech counsel has moved on, and I am beholding to that person to ensure everything 'computer' works in my life and up to his satisfaction.
I didn't blink for a second way back when I came to Teksavvy and dropped all that was familiar for uncharted waters.
I have learned to not question him, he's simply way to clever at this game. What he doesn't know, is not worth my time.
He said 'it's time to go' and he went. I have followed.
At any rate, I AM thanking Teksavvy for providing me a good alternative to Bell (which is simple really as Bell sucks in every way worth mention).
I have no overt complaints. All my call ins have been efficiently and not lengthy waits. Any issues I have had, were resolved in a friendly manner. I have no horror stories to offer the dissatisfied.
The price was acceptable, the service was acceptable and the staff have been good.
But I support competition for it's own sake, and there are options (other than Bell and Rogers).
Today's cancellation call in went smooth and without aggro. The staff person was polite and efficient and didn't get all desperate on me for cancelling.
If at some unforeseen time in the future, the world changes and I find myself again needing Teksavvy for a solution, I will not have any issues with returning. |

Hello,
I have tried to contact you by phone and have been unable to receive an answer. I've sent you a PM for some important clarification we need in regards to your cancellation. Please reply ASAP so we can make sure this goes smoothly for you.
Other than that I would just like to thank you for the kind words. We're sorry to lose you but quite glad to hear all is well and we are not parting ways with a bitter taste. As already mentioned, should things change in the future, we'd love to hear back from you.
Take care, Keith |

My, this post was worth reading. It was so much worth my time that I've finally found the "Approval for this post" button under "Actions" and clicked it.
See you around. ^^ |

So your tech buddy tells you to jump ship to a different ISP and you do it without questioning? What were his reasons? Seems silly to me if your service was fine. I will quote this post as it was the one needing most involved reply. Do it without questioning? Nope. But my friend doesn't normally result in questions, he's the reason I get the answers though At one time he had contemplated working for Teksavvy, and he would have been a good acquisition in my opinion But circumstances were not ideal for him at that time if I recall. I am routinely used to phoning him and asking him questions of a technology based nature and the speed at which he finds answers always surprises me. I've known the young man since hmm the early 90s. He's always enjoyed my confidence. I am indeed lucky. I can routinely be best described as a dinosaur uncomfortable with new tricks I hate learning the new. I do know something of business though, and I do wish he had confidence in his ability to run his own. I've yet to meet anyone his equal when it comes to computers. He possesses natural talent you can't get at a college. At any rate, I have migrated to Electronic Box. It's not always about raw specifics of price or specific details with the service though, it's the sum of the whole. But, I will need to be with EB for a couple of years with no troubles before they get given special mention. Respect is something that has to be earned after all. There ARE a few names on the market that can occasionally be worthy of checking into. Sometimes the person's specific location makes all the difference. Being in a old home or a new home, being in a residence or an apartment building. Being rural or urban. I for instance live in an old building, that has seen a lot of rebuilding over the years, I live downtown, but Lindsay sure isn't the middle of Toronto either. I have yet to have a problem with dsl service and when everyone was jumping on the cable band wagon, I simply wasn't all that interested. Everyone needs to remember, each customer brings their own variables to the table. I have managed to go to a speed increase, and a major price decrease and I am using a Voip phone now. All in all, I am getting more for a lot less. But it works for me. |

I can understand that, I'm the technology wikipedia everyone in my family and circle of friends (and their friends and on) like to bug. They often take my advice like its gold (often cause I back up with a night's worth of research). I usually can't leave a friend's family dinner without getting a computer dumped me to fix or something neat they want to do at home with their computer and want me to explain how to do it.
So it's reasonable to take your friends word.
It's like with handy work and shop work, not my forte, so I defer to my father for advice. We all have people in our lives we trust with their talents, knowledge and advice. Sukunai is trusting his friend with decision to switch providers.
Good to know TekSavvy's gets honorable mention and you're leaving happily. If it doesn't go well with Ebox, at least you know TekSavvy will still be around to accept your business again. At least I hope they're not going anywhere anytime soon. :> |

I enjoyed your post.
I to will soon be leaving, but for me it is to start.ca. I love what Teksavvy has done for me over the years I have no complaints at all and have held out beyond reason hoping that Teksavvy would get a cable option from rogers or cogeco in Stratford, but the max available to me from Teksavvy here, even from Bell is 6 meg DSL. I have outgrown that for some time now and can no longer make it work.
Cable from Start.ca is my only option since I will never go with rogers or bell again in my life. I will not cancel my DSL with Teksavvy till my cable has been up and running for a month, since I do not need to have a cancellation date for start.ca to hook up an inactive cable line.
Before I make the call this week to Start.ca maybe Teksavvy can inform me of a cable option I have not been aware of so I can stay.
Best of luck with your new Provider to the OP |

In my personal opinion, the move is just based on value. Nothing more.
In my personal opinion, I also think your friend isn't too damn bright for telling you to move to a Mickey Mouse company that doesn't even have a compliant privacy policy that adheres to law.
Each to their own. |

E-Box is a fine ISP, and you seem to have been after a price drop too, because moving from one ISP to another just because your tech buddy does seems silly. He, or any other techie should be able to help you regardless of ISP. |

Tch Tch... @Shada My place has a max speed of 6 meg dsl , what speed increase is coming without the installation of new equipment and wires? Cable is my only option andd Teksavvy does not sell that option in my area. Start.ca does. If Teksavvy did sell it I would have it. 6 meg is my max with teksavvy even if they could match all bells speeds since bell only can provide 6 aswell. Asking me to wait for Cable in my area has been going on for almost a year now, and I have seen many other posts with tthis topic, so please no Tch Tch and do what you feel is right for you... but I need more speed. |

I know they already have beta testers so it will come. Don't know when but my guess not too far from now.
Glad to hear you had a great time with Teksavvy. |

Each to their own. Hehe well I have the advantage of having seen my friend in action, I can't claim to know you though. I've seen technicians that have diplomas and get paid serious cash to perform at a level that isn't even half as good as my friend. I've seen him provide answers faster than I thought was possible to almost any form of tech question I can think up. He's able to 'see' solutions to my computer problems and not even need to be in the same room. That impresses me a lot @HiVolt, my buddy IS my back up plan hehe. Warranties never make me feel as comfortable as my friends skill level. Yeah sure, some day I might not possess access to my friend, and that would of course suck. He'd need to be dead for that though. I'll let ya know, if I can think of a single time he's ever been wrong. His track record speaks for itself. |

Shada is Rogers an option in your area, what about Cogeco? After we get ATPIA, particularly on Rogers we'll have their ENTIRE footprint. |

Rogers isn't available via TekSavvy in Startford but Start is meaning it's an issue of Aggregated vs Non-Aggregated.
TekSavvy qualify check lists only 6/800, so unlike the users on 28/1 that want not so big leap iin upgrade to 35/3 with Start, going from 6/800 to 35/3 for 25/2, would be a big jump for users in Stratford. So I can see why'd he want to switch providers. November is a long way away (especially if he's waited all this time) to get 3x the speed he has now.
I dont believe Stratford is an area serviced by Cogeco but you could post and the direct support forums and see maybe they are and can get on beta testing. |

We're pretty sure the transition to ATPIA will be long done before November 15th 2013, cut off date. |
