mikefxu join:2004-10-05 Titusville, FL | Lower price for typical computer Looking for a deal on a typical computer for us. The past few have been through Provatage but they finally ran out.
What I am looking at now from Dell Small Business.
Dell Vostro 270 (Can be another brand) Window 7 Pro (Pro version of 7 or 8 required) Intel Core i3-3220 (2.9+ GHz dual core Intel required) 4GB memory (2+ GB required) DVD+/-RW (burner required) $437 before tax
Previous 7 computers from Provantage.
Dell Vostro 260 Windows 7 Pro Intel Core i3-2120 2GB memory DVD+/-RW $391.88 before tax
Curious of any sources form others that buying small quantities at a time. Will consider refurbs is they are at least $100 off new price. |

 | reply to mikefxu I would much rather buy a used Optiplex desktop from ebay, or another vendor for used gear than waste money on any consumer grade stuff.... which I consider "disposable" computers. Take a look at the Optiplex 780.
Another option is to use a commercial grade laptop such as a Lenovo ThinkPad, with a dock.
You'll be much happier with these even used, than with these ones sold at WalMart, BestBuy and other junk dealers. |

Take a look at the Optiplex 780. I have been with my company for 9 years. I acquired a diverse mix of Dell's that were in service for 5-8 years. I did not find a correlation between reliability and whether it was a consumer or business model. I will not argue they are better quality but I have not found that results in better reliability or longevity. |

Once you go to the main desktops page ( »www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/desktops ), go to the bottom to sign up for email updates. |
