[AZ] Pop Email Not Downloading

Is there currently an issue with POP Email in Phoenix? i am trying to troubleshoot the in-laws E Mail issue remotely from IL.

POP Email using Outlook 2007 hasn't downloaded any new messages since last night at about 11 PM. The messages do appear on webmail. I tested Outlook 2007 after a reboot and it indicates that it is connecting to the servers fine, but no messages are coming in.

They recently added an IPAD to their mix of devices and view webmail on that if it makes a difference in any settings.

Thanks!

Try troubleshooting outside of Outlook to make sure POP is working

from a command line type
telnet pop.cox.net 110 - you will need to change this to the actual pop server name

you should get a response back
Trying ???.???.???.???...
Connected to pop.cox.net
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK ready

at this point, you can login by typing
USER YourUserName

You should get
+OK Password required for YourUserName.

Then you can type
PASS passW0rd

if you are successful, you should get another OK message telling you how many messages you have and how much space they are using.

to get a list of messages on the system type
LIST

If any of the above doesn't work, you can troubleshoot based on whether it is a connectivity or user/pass issue

Thanks for the reply.

After much head banging, I found it to be an issue with the VIEW setting in Outlook. Apparently once in a while Outlook decides not to show new messages according to the search results I found (or if my guess is right, someone clicked something they shouldn't have).

Issue was resolved by re-clicking the view settings a few times to what they should have been, and the new messages appeared in the display.

No further response from the Cox Techs is needed. Thanks!
