Re: [Extreme Plus] Usenet seem to be throttled now! So I took some time off from downloading. I come back and VOLA downloading at 10MB/s Sweet!!!.. i also changed where i find the NZB files. |

 | reply to Dvella21 I d/l every day at full speed of 75Mbit and grab at least 10 gigs a day with no problems. Like others have said the file could be removed due to copyright violations. When that happens, it looks like you are d/ling it at a very slow rate, but really there is nothing there. That has been happening more and more recently. |

| reply to Viper359 Good place to start would be the newsreader log to verify this. If removals, it would be full of errors showing this. -- Usenet Block Accounts | Unlimited Accounts |

| reply to anonymousse OK, not sure how I can explain this any easier, if you start to download something, then it stops, or slows right to a crawl, depending on which reader you are using, odds are what you are downloading has been removed, its gone, period. You cannot download it. There are many links about things being removed from usenet. Its got nothing to do with Rogers.
Download something that isn't copyright protected, and come back and let us know your results. |

 | reply to Viper359 Sabnbz astraweb. Starts out at 4.5mbs. Drops to 1.3. After2 minsl. On all downloads. Tried everything. Ports. Servers. Number of connections. Hitron modem on dmz. Nothing helps |

Viper359Premium join:2006-09-17 Scarborough, ON | reply to Dvella21 Usenet hasn't really been throttled in Canada. As for the speeds, it sounds like a copyright owner has done a dcma on the stuff. This is exactly what you are seeing. Try downloading a Linux distro and see what happens. |
|
 | reply to Dvella21 Shouldnt be ANY throttling now by any ISP in Canada. |

Viper359Premium join:2006-09-17 Scarborough, ON | reply to Dvella21 What reader are you using? Also, if the file is already been dcma'd, this can be happening. Saw it a few times lately. Seems like I am getting it, then all the sudden, nothing, when I looked closer, found out why. |

 | reply to TOPDAWG www.speedtest.net/result/2490359528.png I am directly plugged into the modem. hmm I tried 3 diff service providers hoping one of them would work they are all doing the same thing hit the top speed n drop off to 0 then after 3 mins it will go to something like 2MB/s .. i thnk it may be the modem? |

 | reply to arthurwinslo Hey I just tried 3 providers out giganews newshosting and usenetserver . They all start around 10MB/s then gradually go to 200KB/s. What is a good provider and what port should they be on. |
|
 | reply to Dvella21 I just did a download at 19mb/s so it is likely your usenet provider that is the culprit |
